Insomnious Night Lift
This Portuguese sextet plays dark, atmospheric metal in a style which was more widespread in the middle of the '90s. There's not much gothic here, but the contrast between brutal/female vocals is once again present... I believe "Insomnious..." is the band's second effort and I really think that they have a long way to go before they can release a really interesting album. Why? Well, the guys show us some ideas which escape the typical goth/atmospheric sound which is everywhere nowadays, but they are more or less unable to develop them. The long songs are merely repeats of the same parts, rather than a theme which goes on and develops. I mean, how can you keep the listener interested if you don't have surprises or at least new passages in a ten-minute track? Nonetheless, I would prefer this cd instead of all those typical gothic things, because it has some good ideas in the first place. Hopefully next time Thanatoschizo will present a more mature version of their work...
